About the name: Named Laurel- for his white pelt; -heart for his tendencies to stick to his gut and try to do the right thing
Past names: Laurelpaw, Laurelkit
Position: Ivyclan medicine cat
Age: 66 moons
Gender: tom
Personality
Character arc: Laurelheart's character arc will see him trusting younger cats or to have his trust shattered once more; it may see reconciliation with an old friend/family member; it may involve learning to rely on his clan more as he growsMyer Briggs type: ENFJ (Organized and decisive; works to build harmony in personal relationships; empathetic; see potential in everyone.)
Alignment: Neutral Good (Tries to do the right thing. Mostly follows the law but feels no guilt if being a good person involves breaking the laws.)
Personality overview: Laurelheart is a perfectionist and believes every action should have meaning. He has a sweet heart and is warm to all his clanmates and an encouraging mentor. He’s patient with younger cats but he cannot abide unfocused cats or those who don’t value the warrior code. He has a deep and fervent belief in starclan and sees even the smallest things to have meaning. He loves telling stories about his own time as an apprentice where he was constantly dragged into trouble by his littermates.
How he sees himself:
- The worrier -- It's part of the job to worry about everyone. He frets over scratches and fears for his clan every time someone calls his name. He also worries about misinterpreting, missing or over interpreting signs.
- The pacifist -- all his reasoning comes back to two points; what does starclan will and will cats be injured. In fear of injuries and death he nearly always takes a peaceful stance.
- The shoulder -- if the leader is the head of the clan and the deputy is the paws then the medicine cat is either the heart or the shoulder. At times he feels like he's only a shoulder to be cried or leaned upon.
- The odd man out -- being older than many of his clan mates and the only medicine cat he does feel a little isolated from his clan at times. He struggles to bridge this gap.
- In the group -- to continue to learn and grow as a medicine cat (5/10); to train a great successor who will serve the clan well (8/10)
- For the self -- to find time for himself (2/10)
- Relationships -- reconnect with his mother (4/10); to devote more time to his friends (6/10)
Breaking the character:
- Pacifist -- He isn't so much a pacifist as one who wants the least amount of pain possible. He will cry for war if he believes it will save future bloodshed or is the only way for the clan to survive but will doubt his decision every step of the way. In normal times he is too blase about border crossings etc which may loose the clan prey.
- Patience -- Two things will make him loose his patience; cats who disrespect the stars and cats who act to harm others. If he loses his temper he will feel guilty about it for the former but will have no qualms about lashing out for the latter.
- Faith -- He will hold onto his faith even when the world is crumbling around him. This may cost him friends and allies but he will do almost anything he believes Starclan wishes. He would not slaughter or injure innocents but that's about all he would refrain from doing if pushed hard enough.
Social Standing
Apprentice: none Former apprentices: As a medicine cat: Cherrypaw, one other (both returned to warrior duties); As a warrior: Wigeonpaw, briefly
Mentor: Teaselclaw, a young she-cat (warrior); Poppynose (medicine cat)
Standing in clan/group: well respected by most, most cats seem to be comfortable approaching him with problems
Religious views: believes in starclan fully
Things you may have heard:
- Enjoys playing in mud -- TRUE -- if you define playing in mud as using it as sun protection for his delicate pink nose in greenleaf
- Was called Garlicpaw as an apprentice -- FALSE -- sometimes if he's feeling particularly sad, ashamed or distant to his sister he likes to distance himself from the stories about his sister. In such cases he'll talk about "my denmates Garlicpaw and Newtpaw" rather than "my sister and I"
- Once misinterpreted a recurring nightmare as a sign from starclan, leading to an evacuation -- TRUE -- In his defense he wasn't even a qualified medicine cat yet. He spoke of his nightmare (which involve the camp flooding) with such conviction the clan evacuated. His mentor really should have figured it all out. Yes. It was all Poppynose's fault.
- Was in love with his first mentor -- FALSE -- They did grow very close after his sister's death but there was never anything romantic between them. She was still acting his mentor more than like a lover. They spent a long time laughing about it after the rumors started.

Short description: large white tom with green eyes
Gifts and Shortcomings
Skills: Healing cats, good swimmer.Fighting: (5/10) His bulk gives him a natural advantage when it comes to fighting. While he does practice his fighting moves semi regularly he doesn't use them with the same regularity as the average warrior and is beginning to slow down with age. It has been moons since he was last in a proper fight but he can still hold his own. He often tries to talk his way out of a fight which may put him at a disadvantage initially. His style relies on throwing his weight around and trying to end the fight quickly.
Hunting: (5/10) His build is a disadvantage when it comes to hunting. Like fighting he practices his hunting skills fairly often. His style is slow and meticulous.
Strengths: Good memory, encouraging mentor, patient, kind hearted
Weaknesses: Tends to over interpret signs; aka take things that just are and turn them into something life altering. He is easy to take advantage of if you know which buttons to push.
Fears: Owls, failing a friend
The Past
Former positions: medicine cat apprentice, warrior, warrior apprentice, kit Timeline: Born (new leaf) - apprenticed @ 6 (leaf fall) - warrior @13 (mid new leaf) - medicine cat apprentice @22 (leaf-bare) - medicine cat @32 (leaf bare)
History:
Kit
- Born early new leaf to Lilywhisker and Smoketail. He had one littermate, Newtpaw.
- Even when the pair was very young his mother was distant. In a time of slim hunting the queens were often physically and emotionally distant. Newtkit and Laurelkit grew very close as a result.
- He and his sister were very adventurous as kits and struck up a friendship with Volekit, one of their denmates.
- Newtkit and Laurelkit soon grew more and more reckless. Some of the queens started to make jokes about them being kicked out for bad behaviour before being made into apprentices.
Apprentice
- The pair was apprenticed at 6 moons old. He got Teaselclaw a young she-cat on her first apprentice and she got a senior tom. Newtpaw tried her hardest to swap and as much as __star thought she didn’t like the idea of being mentored by a scrawny near-elder, Laurelpaw new the truth. She’d rather risk Teaselclaw’s inexperience delaying her ceremony than his.
- The two were rarely more than a fox length apart and against any and all threats they were united. They were blindly loyal towards each other as Teaselclaw put it.
- For the first three moons of their apprenticeship things went well. Both apprentices threw themselves into their training and excelled at fighting. Laurelpaw began to develop feelings for Volepaw although his sister always came before the budding relationship.
- At nine moons Newtpaw decided the pair of them should try to be the youngest warriors ever and that was when the trouble started. She tried to ransom fox cubs (which resulted in the blinding of a clanmate), attempted to hunt dogs and followed rogues home. The two of them got into a lot of trouble. Laurelpaw tried to be the voice of reason and often got a reduced sentence for it.
- In the end Newtpaw's ceremony was delayed for her behavior and Laurelpaw refused to become a warrior before her.
- When they were thirteen moons old a large owl started preying on the smaller clan cats and Newtpaw got it into her head to go owl hunting. One morning, casual as anything she told him she knew where it was nesting and that ___star would have to make her a warrior after presenting her with the owl. Laurelpaw’s stomach went to knots. He told Newtpaw it was suicidal but she went anyway. He followed her and the two of them fought, snarling at the base of the tree. Laurelheart had let her do some crazy things in the past but none as dangerous as going into the nest of an owl and he dug his claws in. Eventually some warriors came and escorted them back to camp with a firm scolding for stealing prey. Newtpaw was put on den duty and Laurelpaw spilled everything to Teaselclaw.
- ___star convinced him he needed to put the clan before his sister and so he became a warrior without her, they hoped it might teach Newtpaw some humility.
Warrior
- He became a warrior at 13 moons. His sister handled it well, only telling him she would join him before the moon was out. He thought she was going to behave but instead she set off on another scheme and drowned a few days later.
- For the first few moons of his warriorship he was a mess following his sister's death. He drew away from his mother in this time. Teaselclaw continued to act his mentor, encouraging him to eat and accompanying him on hunts, patrols etc for moral support. She even taught him to swim (after just learning herself) so his sister's death would never own him. In this time he drifted from Volenose.
- As he recovered he began to feel dissatisfied as a warrior and started looking for other life choices. He went from a cat who devoted himself completely to one cat to devoting himself completely to the clan. Soon he took an interest in the path of a medicine cat and started training.
Medicine Cat Apprentice
- At 22 moons old he decided to walk the path of the medicine cat.
- All in all it was uneventful. He never really clicked with his new mentor the way he did Teaselclaw but they got along amicably enough. He and Teaselclaw remained close.
- He never wavered from his decision and was soon done with training.
Medicine Cat
- At 32 moons old he became a full medicine cat.
- In his early moons as a full medicine cat he had to give extra care to a sickly kit, Mothnose, from the first litter he delivered on his own. The two remain close to this day.
- His mentor retired a few moons after he became a full medicine cat.
- He took his first apprentice at around 45 moons old or something but the cat soon returned to warrior duties after the path proved too difficult.
- He continued to have as estranged a relationship as a medicine cat can have with a clanmate with his mother.
Start of Roleplay
- Took on another apprentice, Cherrypaw. Unlike his last apprentice Cherrypaw seemed very interested and enthusiastic and the two grew close.
- Eventually she too decided the path wasn't for her and ? (roleplayer absence)
- Laurelheart began to worry about growing old without training an apprentice as he grows older.
- He began to have ominous dreams about watching the skies, he plays into his own fears and worried about another large owl preying on the clans.
- Mistpaw took an interest in becoming medicine cat while he is dubious and refuses to take her on as a full apprentice he decides to take her as his apprentice in all but name and try to scare her from the position. If she still wants to do it she may just be the one.
